Pro-danny / pro-skeptical responses to the heiau incident?
Hrm, so I've seen a few fan fics involving the S2 Halloween ep and Danny's 'disrespect' for the sacred location and, well, they all seem to start with the automatic assumption that Danny was completely in the wrong for disrespecting Island beliefs. That regardless of his concerns about evidence loss in an outdoor location, he was a Bad Person for letting expediency overrule cultural respect*. Are there any fics out there where Danny actually stands up for himself as a police officer doing his job and treating all crime scenes by the same standard whether it's a religious site, a public cemetery or, say, a military monument which is normally opened only by a strict ceremony? Or calls Steve on the disrespect the SEAL has shown for Danny's principles and beliefs in the name of expediency?
* WARNING : Minor rant : And seriously? On their first case as a fully established team, Steve couldn't take the 5 seconds out of a chase to let a group of civilians off the elevator car and gratuitously waved his gun around in front of a small child. The team regularly uses 'aggressive interrogation' tactics that violate not merely the law, but the oaths that they have all taken to uphold the constitution of the US and Hawaii. They offend, harass, and invade privacy on pretty much a daily basis and it's all good in the end because they Need to Get The Job Done(tm) and they are way awesome BAMFs who Don't Let Anyone's Approval Stop Them From Doing Their Jobs(tm). But heaven forbid (literally) that a specific cultural standard of religious belief, or a specific individual of a Hawaiian priest be given anything but complete deference when processing a crime scene.

And even tho he continues to cut his mother, girlfriend and others a break, he still get "crapped" on but has learned to keep his head during it all.
I think this show is doing a great job of showing the evolution of Lt. Cmdr Steve McGarrett to Steve the son, friend, boss and "Uncle" myself... :)
